What gets imported from Tally
Everything you need to start billing tomorrow. Past entries stay in Tally, where your CA can still see them.
- CustomersSundry Debtors become customers, with GSTIN and state.
- SuppliersSundry Creditors become suppliers.
- ProductsStock items with HSN code, unit, cost and GST rate.
- Opening stockQuantities posted as opening stock movements.
- Opening balancesParty balances become outstanding receivables and payables, so ageing reports are right from day one.
Stays in Tally
- Past vouchers: old sales, purchase, payment and journal entries
- General ledger accounts and their history
- Old invoices as documents
Keep Tally read-only for look-ups, or keep it for your CA's accounts.
General ledger accounts and historical vouchers are not imported. Start OthTech from a clear cut-over date.

Example dates. The start of a financial year (1 April) is the cleanest switch of all.
How to import your Tally data
- 01
Export masters from Tally
In Tally, export your masters (ledgers and stock items) as an XML file.
- 02
Upload the file
In OthTech, go to Settings → Data / Migration and choose the Tally XML file.
- 03
Preview each section
See what will be created for customers, suppliers, products, opening stock and balances — nothing is saved yet.
- 04
Import and check
Commit the import, then compare a few balances and stock figures with Tally before you start billing.
In TallyPrime, use Export (Alt+E) → Masters and choose XML as the file format. If your Tally version names it differently, look for the masters export in XML.
Coming from Excel? Map your columns once
Upload a spreadsheet, tell OthTech which column is which, and run a dry run. Rows with problems are listed with the reason, and nothing is saved until you confirm.
| Your column | OthTech field | Sample value | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Party Name | Customer name | Mehta Provision Stores | |
| GST No | GSTIN | 27AAKFM4821L1Z6 | |
| City / State | State (filled from GSTIN if blank) | Maharashtra | |
| Mobile | Phone | 98xxxxxx21 | |
| Balance | Opening balance | ₹18,900 Dr |
Before you switch
- Merge duplicate parties (the same shop entered twice)
- Check customer GSTINs and states
- Make sure every stock item has an HSN code and GST rate
- Count closing stock, or trust Tally's closing figures
- Agree party balances with Tally on the cut-over date
