Bill of materials
Name the finished product and list each component with the quantity one unit uses.
Write down what goes into each product once. When a work order is done, the raw material comes out of stock, the finished goods go in, and you know what each unit cost in material.
For garment and textile units, food processing, packaging and printing, furniture makers and small engineering workshops.

Building draws the components out of stock and puts finished goods in, in one step.

The bill of materials for one bag is 0.5 m of canvas, 1.2 m of webbing, 0.1 of a thread spool and one woven label. Work order WO-0142 is for 480 bags.
On completion, 240 m of canvas, 576 m of webbing, 48 spools and 480 labels come out of the godown, each at its average cost. The ₹50,160 total is divided by 480, so the bags go into stock at ₹104.50 each.

A list of the components and the quantity of each that goes into one unit of a finished product. For a tote bag that might be 0.5 m of canvas, 1.2 m of webbing, a tenth of a thread spool and one label.
The components for the full quantity are taken out of stock, the finished goods are added to stock, and an assembly record is saved with the cost per unit. The work order is marked completed.
Each component is costed at the weighted average cost of the stock you have received, multiplied by the quantity used. The total is divided by the number of units built, so every finished unit carries its material cost.
The build stops before anything moves and tells you which component is short, how much is in the godown and how much is needed. The dashboard also lists components to buy for your open work orders.
